Monday 1st October 2012 – windsurfing **** - sunny :) - 26.74kts

Woke to the most glorious sun rise at Port Mahon just outside Sigean right by the Etang de Bages et de Sigean and a flock of around 100 flamingos honking right in front of the van:) Almost perfect except for the pesky house flies! But fantastic after two poor weather days!!! As no wind was forecast we were going to canoe in the etang but after going to the little sailing club round the corner and standing on the jetty we decided it was too breezy so headed for Port Nouvelle beach instead. It was a really beautiful day, blue sky and sunny :) I sailed and what a top spot this is, with 20 mph of wind went for 7m on the Xantos and tried for an hour but the wind was a bit up and down and died after about an hour and a half :( but it was a great hour sailing down to where the kiters launch and sailing back just off the beach with half a dozen other sailors and my old 1996 F2 was keeping up with all the new slalom boards!!! Only shame it didn’t last a bit longer. I came in for a bite to eat and tried again but the wind had gone and I came ashore as a kiter was heading out to sea with his kite in the water, it shows the dangers of sailing in offshore winds but he had a mate to help him out :)
Mag walked over the St. Lucie Nature reserve which was right behind the van, saw several birds, walked along the canal du robine and was gone about 2 hours. We had a cuppa then packed up and came back to our new favourite spot at Port Mahon on the Sigean etang. We had a game of phase 10 then went to watch the sunset round the corner near the sailing club. Carried on over the hill and back to the van. The moon-rise was nearly as good as the sun rise this morning :) Peter is at Salagou and if no wind he is planning to stay there for a rest day.
